Advancing Tobacco-Free Communities
We work to foster environments supportive of policies that reinforce the tobacco-free norm in communities throughout New York State. Through community engagement and youth action (Reality Check), promote local changes that reduce the impact of tobacco use, including:
  • Reducing youth exposure to tobacco marketing;
  • Increasing the availability of tobacco-free outdoor shared environments;
  • Increasing the availability of smoke-free multi-unit housing, especially public and affordable housing; and
  • Encouraging smoke-free internet and movies policies.
Mission
To reduce illness, disability and death related to tobacco use and secondhand smoke exposure,
and to alleviate the social and economic burden caused by tobacco use in New York State.
